Background: Abnormal uterine bleeding is a common gynecological complaint affecting 10-30% of reproductive-aged women and it can result from different causes which adversely affects the woman’s quality of life, necessitating its appropriate and adequate management. Among all the pharmacological and surgical management options of AUB. LNG-IUS is emerging as a safer and effective treatment option of AUB. However apprehension about discomfort associated with the use of intrauterine device leads to its untimely removal. Aim of current study was to conduct a prospective qualitative study to observe the level of patient satisfaction with the use of LNG-IUS in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods: This study was conducted in the department of obstetrics and gynecology, MGM medical college and M.Y. Group of Hospitals, Indore from March 2017- March 2018. Follow up was done at 1, 3, 6 months. Results: In our study, majority of the women (90%) had improvement in their abnormal uterine bleeding along with significant increase in mean hemoglobin level from7.30+1.29 gm%  to 8.71+1.27 gm% at the end of six months. 86.66% of these patients were very satisfied with the use of LNG IUS,Conclusions: LNG-IUS is an effective device for medical management of AUB and it should be used as the first line therapy for the same. It should always be considered before surgical interventions. It yields promising result in terms of patient satisfaction.

Monostotic craniofacial fibrous dysplasia: report of two cases with interesting histology

    Get PDF
Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a relatively rare osseous disease of unknown etiology, wherein the normal bone is replaced by collagen-rich tissue, comprising of fibroblasts and variably abundant immature woven bone. Clinically, it may involve a single bone or multiple bones. It commonly arises in the jaw bone, skull, rib, and proximal femur. Those arising in the skull and the jaw are together termed “craniofacial fibrous dysplasia.” The differential diagnosis at this location includes meningioma and metastatic carcinoma. In this report, we highlight two diagnostically challenging cases presenting with orbital swelling and headache as the main complaints. Our first case was misinterpreted as meningioma on intraoperative squash smear, and paraffin sections revealed characteristic features of FD. The second case highlights the morphological feature of non-specific cystic degeneration occurring in FD. Radiographs in such cases show cystic swelling, which is indicative of a secondary aneurysmal bone cyst

A Hybrid Model for Sentiment Analysis Based on Movie Review Datasets

    Get PDF
The classification of sentiments, often known as sentiment analysis, is now widely recognized as an open field of research. Over the past few years, a huge amount of study work has been carried out in these disciplines by utilizing a wide variety of research approaches. Due to the possibility that the performance of sentiment analysis may be impacted by the high-dimensional feature set, text mining demands careful consideration during in the construction and selection of features. The process of recognising and extracting subjective information from written data is referred to as sentiment analysis. Sentiment analysis enables companies to understand the social sentiment around their brand, product, or service by monitoring the conversations that take place in internet chat rooms. In order to categorise people's attitudes or sentiments, this study provides a hybrid model (Support Vector Machine, Convolutional Neural Network, and Long Short-Term Memory). The findings of using the network model to sentiment analysis on the movie review or amazon review datasets reveal that it is possible to gain a good classification impact by using the model. The preprocessing is used for text mining, the removal of punctuation, and the generation of vocabulary, also uses GLOVE for vectorization and TF-IDF algorithms for better feature extraction.  The results that were proposed were compared with various base models such as KNN, and MNB, amongst others, which demonstrates that the hybrid model performs better than other models

The modern histopathologist: in the changing face of time

    Get PDF
The molecular age histopathologist of today is practicing pathology in a totally different scenario than the preceding generations did. Histopathologists stand, as of now, on the cross roads of a traditional 'visible' morphological science and an 'invisible' molecular science. As molecular diagnosis finds more and more applicability in histopathological diagnosis, it is time for the policy makers to reframe the process of accreditation and re-accreditation of the modern histopathologist in context to the rapid changes taking place in this science. Incorporation of such 'molecular' training viv-a-vis information communication technology skills viz. telemedicine and telepathology, digital imaging techniques and photography and a sound knowledge of the economy that the fresh entrant would ultimately become a part of would go a long way to produce the Modern Histopathologist. This review attempts to look at some of these aspects of this rapidly advancing 'art of science.

Maternal Health: A Case Study of Rajasthan

    Get PDF
This case study has used the results of a review of literature to understand the persistence of poor maternal health in Rajasthan, a large state of north India, and to make some conclusions on reasons for the same. The rate of reduction in Rajasthan's maternal mortality ratio (MMR) has been slow, and it has remained at 445 per 1000 livebirths in 2003. The government system provides the bulk of maternal health services. Although the service infrastructure has improved in stages, the availability of maternal health services in rural areas remains poor because of low availability of human resources, especially midwives and clinical specialists, and their non-residence in rural areas. Various national programmes, such as the Family Planning, Child Survival and Safe Motherhood and Reproductive and Child Health (phase 1 and 2), have attempted to improve maternal health; however, they have not made the desired impact either because of an earlier emphasis on ineffective strategies, slow implementation as reflected in the poor use of available resources, or lack of effective ground-level governance, as exemplified by the widespread practice of informally charging users for free services. Thirty-two percent of women delivered in institutions in 2005-2006. A 2006 government scheme to give financial incentives for delivering in government institutions has led to substantial increase in the proportion of institutional deliveries. The availability of safe abortion services is limited, resulting in a large number of informal abortion service providers and unsafe abortions, especially in rural areas. The recent scheme of Janani Suraksha Yojana provides an opportunity to improve maternal and neonatal health, provided the quality issues can be adequately addressed

Glomerulocystic Kidney Disease and its rare associations: an autopsy report of two unrelated cases

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Glomerulocystic kidney disease is an uncommon type of cystic renal disease. It is characterized by cortical microsysts, which are represented by cystic dilatation of Bowman's spaces. CASE PRESENTATION: We describe a case of glomerulocystic disease in a neonate and another in an abortus associated with tracheo-oesophageal fistula and megacystic-megaureter syndrome. The kidney on autopsy was sponge-like and revealed presence of cysts corresponding to dilatations of Bowman's space microscopically. In these two cases, the Glomerulocystic Kidney Disease in one case corresponded to a sporadic form and, in the other, to a syndromic, non-heritable form of glomerulocystic kidney disease. CONCLUSION: The associated anomalies in Glomerulocystic Kidney disease are well described in the literature. Two more new unrelated associations are described in this article

    Get PDF
Background: Cardiac disease complicates 1% of all pregnancies. It is one of the 3 major indirect causes of maternal mortality in India. Objective of the study is to evaluate the maternal and fetal outcome in patients with cardiac disease in pregnancy. Methods: A retrospective analysis was carried out in 117 pregnant women with known or newly diagnosed heart disease from January 2013 to December 2015 at a tertiary care hospital. Results: In the present study, the incidence of cardiac disease was 0.8%. Majority 66 (56.4%) were of 23-27 years of age, 72 (61.5%) were primigravida. Mostly 84 (71.8%) belonging to New York Heart Association (NYHA) Class I and II. Rheumatic heart disease seen in 96 (82.1%) and congenital heart disease in 17.9% subjects. Among RHD Mitral stenosis was the most common, seen in 51 (53.1%) cases. Majority 78 (66.6%) had vaginal delivery and caesarean section in 28 (23.9%) cases. Most common maternal complication was anaemia seen in 54 (46.2%) cases, congestive cardiac failure complicated 23 (19.6%) cases. 18 patients required ICU care and maternal mortality in 6 cases (5.12%). The live births in (94.8%) cases, 33 (28.2%) babies required NICU admission and perinatal mortality was 7.7%.Conclusions: Heart disease in pregnancy is a high risk condition and has a major impact on pregnancy outcome. Rheumatic heart disease being the prominent cardiac lesion. Fetomaternal mortality and morbidity can be reduced with proper antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care in conjunction with cardiologist and neonatologist
